Hello everyone! It's summer! As you probably noticed, the staff of Tukui community has somehow been a little bit less active in the past couple of weeks. Don't worry, it's summer! Lots of us are on vacation and we are enjoying the sun. Hydra was in Mexico. He's back since yesterday evening. For myself, i'm just enjoying the sun in my country with friends who are off work. The development of Tukui continues and will continue as long we are able to do it. It's just going a little bit slowly at the moment but anyway nothing critical have been reported since a long time. Only a few esthetics bugs, very difficult to find or see, was reported in the last 4 weeks. Nothing really important that need an urgent fix. Tukui in the past, now and future!Tukui, a few years ago, was designed for personal use only. Since the first release on WoWInterface at the end of Burning Crusade, Tukui has continued to evolve and have become a big community website around Lua programming. Also, for about two years, it's the mainstream for several other World of Warcraft user interface. My main goal with the Tukui addon since two years, even if I don't play anymore this game, is to have a fully functional UI, with same features as default Blizzard UI. The code must be clean, easy to understand to allow developers to edit it to their liking and allow them to make awesome UI with a really good start. On the other side, I also want a default layout, ready to use, for those you doesn't know anything about Lua programming with an automatic install for any resolution. This way, it adapt perfectly to everyone Lua knowledge. Lots of peoples often ask me why i'm not adding features like omen, recount or any features that Blizzard think "optionnal". It's simple, not everyone like to have this kind of mods stated above. Tukui is designed to fit the best with everyone taste and preference. Overall, Tukui is almost the same as default UI. You run it, and you add our own mods. It work the same way as default UI. It's just an alternative over default UI that can be easily editable with just minimal Lua knowledge. Tukui 14? It will not be this summer for sure and probably not in the next 4 or 5 month. I think t13 since it's release is one of the most stable and complete version we got since t1 and t10 was probably the worst release. (Lots of bugs in t10, action bar completly unstable with vehicle, etc) If we going forward with 14, it will probably be a "cleanup", better codes, more details/comments, etc. unless some users send great ideas to share. What would you want see if a version 14 is born in the next month? For the Tukui community site, our goal is not only to support a single addon, but also teach everyone Lua programming on World of Warcraft and answer members questions about everything related to World of Warcraft. All of this in a nice environment fun to browse. For sure, with just some basic knowlegde on WoW, you can achieve beautiful new mods or even beautiful UI if you are using our mainstream addon. Feel free to come on our forums and ask questions if you want to learn Lua programming. World of Warcraft is beginning to lose lots of subscribers?Last year, at launch of Cataclysm Beta, Hydra and I made outrageous statements here on Tukui forums that Blizzard’s Cataclysm (according to beta) was the worst MMO expansion in history. From the vantage point of a player experiencing the pre-level cap game, I was unimpressed at what Blizzard had done to WoW. In May of 2011, Mike Morhaime revealed that WoW has lost 600,000 subscribers.
Since this announcement by Mike, I tried to make 2 or 3 come back on WoW. Each time is was a huge fail. In WotLK, I had overall 100+ friends playing this game on my server. At the end of may, this list was reduced to approx 10. As today, this list is now at 3 maximum. Making this game very difficult to play because overall it's a mmo and a mmo means, play with friends. Even almost everyone on my battle.net friend list, from others servers are always offline. Overall I'm scared of the future result that will be announced on Blizzard second quarter 2011 financial results conference next week, August 3'rd. I seriously think they lost a lot more since their last conference but on the other side, Cataclysm was released in China 2 or 3 weeks ago. You'll not see a huge difference worldwide, but i'm sure again that EU and US have lost tons of players and overall, we will see a lost in total subscriptions. Why i'm talking about this? I noticed since last winter, a huge drop of visitors on Tukui site. Overall, it's almost 40% of drop according to our statistics since April of 2011. I'm a little bit worried about the future of WoW and the future of this website. Almost 50% of our subscribers have cancel their monthly support (as known as Premium) since this annoucement by Mike. The main reason, everytime, was: stopping WoW. It's worst with one-time donation, almost nil since april of 2011. We had only one. (thanks Mirach) This is probably due to the number of WoW subscriptions falling in recent months. If you like our addon, our community and our work, so why not donate? or apply for a premium account? Help us to stay online. Be generous. This will encourage us to continue our work and we will try our best for continuing giving the best experience as possible on World of Warcraft. Do you still play WoW?What is your opinion about Cataclysm? Share your opinion about this expansion with us! Hello China!Cataclysm was released in China this month. Just to let everyone know. Even if they are 1 WoW patch version behind us, we made some changes since 13.20 version to allow players from China to play with Tukui even if the current version is designed for 4.2. You don't need to worry about this. Just make sure you check "Load addons out of date" from your character list and you are ready to go. A translation was also made by Popptise. It's now clear that Tukui is officially supported on our website for your country.Welcome everyone from China and welcome Popptise into our VIP club! Curse

We also opened a Diablo 3 forum, for those lucky players invited into the beta and that want to talk about anything related to this World. ConclusionI hope that I didn't made too many spelling mistakes in this blog! I'm a poor french guy and my english is far from perfect. I just hope this blog will be comprehensible for everyone. I have no doubt that Smelly or Hydra are a lot better than me for blogging! :)
