Tukui 14
As of last night i've completed T14, just in time for the patch. It was supposed to be last week, but unfortunately I've been sick for the last 7 days and it was really hard for me to complete it in time. I hope it will work well (it should) because as many of you already know, i'm not playing WoW anymore, since Cataclysm was released. I'm making updates accordingly based only on what i'm seeing from Blizzard's changes. Maybe I forgot something... maybe not...
What are the changes?
Don't expect a lot of visual changes. T14 is mostly just an update from T13 for 4.3 patch, even if tons of code/scripts were updated. T13 was the most stable version of Tukui ever so there was no reason to do a complete rewrite. I will still list the visual changes I have in mind:
- Combo points redesigned for all classes. (old combo point system is available as an option if you don't like it.)
- Some new datatexts written by the community in the past month.
- Rogues can now choose to set their Shadow Dance stance between Stealth bar, or an unused/empty bar in the config. (default: Stealth)
- Added consolidated buffs. (enabled by default, video example.)
- Player debuffs are now positioned according to the number of current buff rows, instead of being in a fixed position on the screen.
- Number of players buffs per row on HD is now set to 12 (down from 16) to avoid overlap with World State Info on lowest resolution.
- Number of players buffs per row on LD is now set to 8 (down from 12) to avoid overlap with World State Info on lowest resolution.
- Total number of players buffs on HD and LD is now set to 40. (up from 32 [HD] and 16 [LD])
- Added a flash option to buffs. This is similar to default UI with buff durations less than 30 seconds. (Disabled by default)
- Improvement to Blizzard frame skinning.
- Some popular AddOns will now be auto-skinned to match Tukui if they are loaded. (Recount, DBM, Skada, BigWigs, Omen, DXE, TinyDPS)
- A Tukui button is now available within the ESC menu.
- Added Boss Extra Button support to Action Bars. This button can be moved around the screen with Tukui.
- We do not force Multisample anymore. Now we simply set the best value for Tukui through the initial installation.
- Buff reminder (icon shown in the middle of the screen while entering combat) is removed from Tukui. This feature didn't match the primary goal of Tukui. If users want this feature back, I could write an extra mod for it in the next few days/weeks to come.
- New way for editors to edit Tukui. Never lose your changes after big patches/updates. For now, this is a "transition" and this method will be optimized when I do a complete rewrite of Tukui with Mists of Pandaria.
I've probably forgotten some of the new features in the list because I didn't write a changelog while updating the UI.

Tukui for Patch 4.3 will be available tonight around 23h. (America PST) Note for European players and other regions. Tukui 14 is also working on patch 4.2. You don't need to wait for the 4.3 patch. Just update and make sure "Load out of date addons" is checked at the character selection screen. You won't need to update Tukui later this week when the patch will hit your server unless we discover a major bug. (something I think it should not happen)
Special Thanks to all VIP and some others selected users who tested the UI on 4.2/4.3. Your bugs reports helped me so much! Thanks to everyone sharing ideas and piece of code thought our forums!
ElvUI 3.0
What is new in v3?
ElvUI v3 was a complete rewrite. The biggest change you'll notice is there are hardly any reloadui's anymore when changing settings. The goal of v3 was to make customizing the UI extremely easy without having to do any lua edits to get the look you want.
Quick Changelog:
- Patch 4.3 Ready
- Should work fine on 4.2 too
- Very Few Reloads
- Movable Actionbars
- SnapTo Feature (Frame Dragging)
- Datatexts Can completely change based on your spec
- Very easy to create plugins for the UI now
- Nameplate filter can now handle setting custom color and scale to specific names.
- /dps and /heal are removed, there is now a profile section within the unitframe config so you can load unitframe settings (size, position, all other settings) based on what talent spec you are.
- Much more..
What still needs to be done?
Sadly because v3 was a complete rewrite, and the patch came sooner than expected not everything Elv wanted to get in is here at the moment. The missing features at the moment are:
- Actionbar size set by bar, instead of a global setting
- Heal Prediction (UnitFrames)
- Raid Icons (Player/Target Frames)
- EmbedRight (All Addons)
- MainTank/MainAssist Frames
- Several Datatexts are not in
- A few more minor things
- Option to move AltPowerBars

Does Blizzard read their own forums?
This is something that drives me crazy, every time I write a bug report on the Blizzard forums they ignore it. EVERY TIME! Some of you may remember when I sent in tons of reports about the weapon enchant tooltip bug since Cataclysm Beta, and it was never fixed in over more than a year? Seriously, deploying a fix for this take 30 seconds. This problem is happening again, but this time with the 4.3 consolidation/weapon buff display. (the buffs API they give to developers)
Yeah, that's right. It means bad news for some users. Weapons buffs enchants and consolidated buffs are now broken on 4.3. I did tons of reports in the last 2 months and again... Blizzard did nothing to fix the issue. There is no way for us to fix the issue without tainting the UI. As seen with the weapon tooltip bug, don't expect a fix for the next year to come. Also because of this, the weapons and consolidated buffs will always remain disabled until a fix is deployed. (if you are playing from 4.2 patch, it work fine)
Here are some topics as proof:
This is unfortunately the last time ever I'll report something to Blizzard. They are wasting my time every time I report these issues. What the fuck is the point of making PTR bug report forums if they don't read them? Now they can just go &%$ *&%/$"%! (Sorry for being rude but my patience has its limits)
So that's it, for now the weapons and consolidated buffs on 4.3 will stay disabled, even if the option is enabled through Tukui on 4.3. I'm sorry for the inconvenience.
Tukui for Mists of Pandaria?
As you have seen in the changelog of T14, I made my decision about whether or not I would be continuing development for MoP. I'm "giving a shot" for patch 5.0 because I expect more players to play World of Warcraft at the release of this expansion, but if for some reason after the patch 5.0 the number of WoW subscriptions and the Tukui site activity falls below what it was with Cataclysm, i'm stopping everything and i'll not change my mind this time. I will not explain my reasoning for this decision again. The reasons are in this old blog (future of Tukui, at the bottom) I did 1 month ago.
This version will be a complete rewrite from the start because Blizzard is planning on changing a lot of things with the UI into this expansion. Some of the scripts in Tukui for Cataclysm begin to be very old and others are now a complete mess to read. Some of the files are very difficult to work with and I really don't like that.
Tukui 15 has now officially started on our development git. For the first time, with this version, you can see how I built Tukui 1 in the past at the WOTLK Beta expansion. We start with nothing on the screen, just a console chat in the middle of the screen, and build everything from the ground up. You can already follow our development here if you have access.
Love our work?

That's it!
Have a nice day and I hope you'll have fun on 4.3!
