Ah yes, i God damn love when tukui client deletes my ElvUI addon and its settings.
Now I have to look for ElvUI somewhere else, because that client decided to wipe all my data and settings just because it can.
Thank you very much. My gratitude.
All your addons settings and profiles are stored in the WTF folder.
Your addons are stored in a completely separate folder, the aptly named, Addons folder.
The client always (as you should do when you manually update also) deletes the old addons before installing the new one. Ie it removes ElvUI from your addons folder and downloads it again.
The Tukui client has no access to your WTF folder. When it removes the addon from your addons folder, it cannot touch your settings.
If the connection is lost between deleting the old addons and downloading the new version, the client can “forget” what it is doing. If this does happen, all you have to do is download again.
You should be backing up regularly.
If you are worried about losing settings
- a simple thing like a computer crash, wow crash (even on the loading screen), AltF4 (not exiting the game correctly) or even unknown forces, can corrupt your WTF folder and wipe your profiles for any/all of your addons. This is under Blizzards control, not individual addons. - Regularly Export your ElvUI profile and save it. Regularly back up your WTF folder.
I would also ask you to think about how you decide to react.
Yes, you had an issue, and it is frustrating/annoying to lose profiles.
Instead of staying open and curious and finding out what is going on, can anything can be done, you chose to write passive aggressive post. People have to read these.
Turns out you were incorrect in your assumptions.
